From
5,000m (16,400ft) on, the team used a new type of oxygen supply system
from Wenoll. The 4kg heavy equipment enabled the team to avoid the
dangerous altitude sickness by breathing oxygen through the nose for
over 10 hours daily.
The
expedition could be conducted without any incidents and casualties.
The
team received supportive consultation in questions of oxygen supply
from Dr. Fischer, head of German Society for Mountain and
Altitude Medicine (Berg- und Höhenmedizin, BExMED).
